Say YES to Globalisation

* Awaiting confirmation

Over the past three years, there has been concerted effort to organise protest movements against market based reforms under the misguided belief that people may some how be better off without an increasing range of choices that trade and economic liberalisation provides. There is a tendency among many critics to blame everything on globalisation. The aim of this event is to highlight the fact that globalisation has the potential to benefit everyone. In view of the upcoming WTO meeting in Doha in November, and the prospect of yet another round of globalised demonstrations, this panel discussion provides an opportunity to respond to these critics.

Liberty Institute is a public policy research organisation, dedicated to promoting awareness of the institutional pillars of free society - individual rights, rule of law, limited government and free market. The Institute believes in the symbiotic relationship between political and economic freedom, and seeks to highlight the fact that one cannot be preserved without the other. The Institute looks at contemporary economic issues, provides market based responses with the aim maximising choice for the citizens. Among areas of particular interest to the Institute are trade, deregulation, privatisation, informal sector, and environmental concerns. The Institute conducts seminars, workshops, has a growing publications programme, and is also engaged in developing educational programme for students.
